Rabi MSP 2027-28: Cabinet Approves New MSP Rates
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Rabi crops for Marketing Season 2027-28.
The decision was taken on 30 September 2026. The approved MSP rates cover six mandated Rabi crops including wheat, barley, gram, lentil, rapeseed & mustard and safflower.

The MSP for Rapeseed & Mustard has been increased by ₹413 per quintal. The new MSP is ₹6,613 per quintal.
Masur MSP 2027-28
The MSP of Lentil (Masur) has been increased by ₹390 per quintal. The new MSP is ₹7,390 per quintal.
Safflower MSP 2027-28
Safflower has received the highest absolute MSP increase among the six Rabi crops. Its MSP has increased by ₹675 per quintal to ₹7,215 per quintal.
MSP and Cost of Production
The official PIB release states that the increase is in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 announcement of fixing MSP at a level of at least 1.5 times the All-India weighted average Cost of Production.
For Marketing Season 2027-28, the expected margin over All-India weighted average cost of production is 106% for wheat, 96% for rapeseed & mustard, 92% for lentil, 59% for gram, 58% for barley and 50% for safflower.
