Rabi MSP 2027-28: Six Crops Get Higher MSP
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved higher Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all six mandated Rabi crops for the Rabi Marketing Season 2027-28. The decision was taken on 30 September 2026.
The six crops covered under the decision are Wheat, Barley, Gram, Lentil (Masur), Rapeseed & Mustard, and Safflower. The revised MSP rates apply to the 2027-28 marketing season.

Which Crop Got the Highest MSP Increase?
Among the six Rabi crops, Safflower received the highest absolute MSP increase of ₹675 per quintal. Its MSP has increased from ₹6,540 in 2026-27 to ₹7,215 per quintal for 2027-28.
The second-highest increase is for Rapeseed & Mustard, whose MSP has increased by ₹413 per quintal to ₹6,613.

Why Was the Rabi MSP Increased?
The government stated that the increase is in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 announcement of fixing MSP at a level of at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average Cost of Production.
The government has also stated that higher MSPs for pulses and oilseeds are intended to support crop diversification along with providing price support for farmers.
Estimated MSP Payout for Farmers
The Cabinet decision on the Rabi Price Policy for Marketing Season 2027-28 is associated with an estimated MSP payout of approximately ₹90,962 crore, according to the government announcement reported on the Cabinet decisions.
The actual benefit received by an individual farmer will depend on procurement arrangements, the crop produced, quantity eligible for procurement and other applicable conditions.
