VB–G RAM G 2026: 375 Permissible Rural Works
The Ministry of Rural Development has notified the new Schedule of Permissible Works under the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin), known as VB–G RAM G. The new schedule contains 375 permissible works under the rural works framework.
The notification was issued on 5 October 2026 and announced by the Ministry of Rural Development on 6 October 2026. The new schedule expands the list by 41 percent compared with the previous framework, which contained 266 works.

Water Security Works
The Water Security category contains 128 works. It focuses on water conservation, water harvesting, groundwater recharge and related rural water-security infrastructure.
Core Rural Infrastructure
A total of 111 works are included under Core Rural Infrastructure. The framework covers infrastructure that supports essential village-level facilities and rural development.
Livelihood-related Infrastructure
The Livelihood-related Infrastructure category contains 98 works. These works are intended to support productive rural assets and strengthen livelihood opportunities.
Disaster Preparedness and Extreme Weather
The new schedule includes 38 works related to extreme weather events and disaster preparedness. This expands the rural works framework to include infrastructure and activities supporting climate resilience and disaster preparedness.
What Does This Mean for Rural Areas?
The expanded schedule gives Gram Panchayats a broader set of permissible works for planning rural development activities. Works are to be identified and prioritised through the prescribed planning process under the VB–G RAM G framework.
Under the VB–G RAM G framework, the Gram Sabha identifies and prioritises permissible works required for the holistic development of the Gram Panchayat, which are incorporated into the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan.
Implementation
The VB–G RAM G Act has been in force across rural India from 1 July 2026. The framework provides a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment in a financial year to eligible rural households whose adult members volunteer to undertake unskilled manual work.
