NMMS Bihar Scholarship 2026
National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is a scholarship programme for meritorious students from economically weaker sections. In Bihar, the examination is conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Bihar.

NMMS Bihar Scholarship Amount
Under the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme, selected students receive ₹12,000 per year, which is equivalent to ₹1,000 per month. The scholarship continues from Class IX to Class XII, subject to the prescribed academic and renewal requirements.
If a student receives the scholarship for the complete four-year period, the total scholarship amount can be up to ₹48,000.
NMMS Bihar Eligibility 2026
According to the SCERT Bihar NMMS notification, students applying for the Academic Year 2025-26 / Project Year 2026-27 examination must satisfy the prescribed academic, school and income conditions.
- The student must be studying in Class VIII during the applicable academic session.
- The student should have passed Class VII with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
- SC and ST students receive a 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks.
- The total annual parental income from all sources should not exceed ₹3.50 lakh.
- The student must be studying in an eligible Government, Government-aided or other institution covered by the Bihar NMMS notification.
- Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sainik School and specified residential schools are excluded.
- Eligible minority aided schools, Madarsa and Sanskrit schools are covered according to the Bihar notification.
NMMS Bihar Income Certificate
Students claiming eligibility on the basis of the income criterion are required to provide an income certificate issued by the competent authority. The parental income from all sources should be within the prescribed annual limit of ₹3.50 lakh.
