Kisan Credit Card (KCC)

Kisan Credit Card (KCC) is a credit facility designed to provide timely and adequate financial support to eligible farmers for their agricultural and related activities. The KCC system helps farmers meet short-term credit requirements associated with crop cultivation and other eligible farming needs through a flexible credit arrangement.

What is Kisan Credit Card?

Kisan Credit Card provides eligible farmers with access to institutional credit for agricultural requirements. The facility can help farmers manage expenses related to crop production, harvesting, post-harvest activities and other eligible agricultural needs.

KCC Benefits

  • Provides timely institutional credit for eligible agricultural requirements.
  • Helps meet working capital requirements for crop cultivation.
  • Can support expenses related to harvesting and post-harvest activities.
  • May provide credit for eligible allied agricultural activities.
  • Helps farmers manage seasonal agricultural expenses.
  • Provides a flexible credit facility subject to applicable terms and limits.
  • Interest benefits may be available under applicable government-supported interest subvention and incentive provisions, subject to eligibility and prescribed conditions.

KCC Eligibility

Farmers who are engaged in cultivation and other eligible agricultural activities can apply for Kisan Credit Card facilities, subject to the lending institution's eligibility assessment and applicable rules.

Eligible applicants may include individual farmers, joint cultivators, tenant farmers, oral lessees, sharecroppers and certain groups of farmers or other eligible agricultural borrowers, depending on the applicable lending provisions.

KCC Loan Limit

The KCC credit limit is determined according to factors such as the type of crop, cultivated area, scale of finance, agricultural requirements and other applicable assessment parameters. The lending institution determines the sanctioned limit based on the borrower's eligibility and applicable credit norms.

KCC Loan for Agriculture

KCC credit can be used for eligible expenses related to crop production and agricultural operations. Depending on the applicable provisions, the facility may also support post-harvest expenses, household consumption requirements within permitted limits and investment or working capital needs associated with eligible allied agricultural activities.

KCC Interest Rate and Interest Benefits

The interest rate applicable to a Kisan Credit Card loan is determined according to the lending institution's applicable terms and government-supported interest benefit provisions. Eligible farmers may receive interest subvention or prompt repayment incentives where applicable and subject to prescribed conditions.

KCC Repayment

The repayment schedule for KCC credit is generally linked to the crop cycle and the type of agricultural activity. The applicable repayment period and renewal conditions are determined according to the sanctioned facility, crop cycle and lending institution's terms.

KCC for Allied Agricultural Activities

KCC facilities may also support eligible allied agricultural activities such as dairy, animal husbandry and fisheries, subject to applicable credit norms and the assessment of the lending institution.

Documents Required for KCC

Documents required for a Kisan Credit Card application may vary according to the applicant and lending institution. Applicants may be required to provide identity proof, address proof, land or cultivation-related documents, photographs, bank account details and other information required for credit assessment.

How to Apply for Kisan Credit Card?

Eligible farmers can approach a participating bank or other eligible lending institution to apply for a Kisan Credit Card. The applicant needs to submit the prescribed application and required documents. After verification and credit assessment, the lending institution determines the applicable credit limit and other loan conditions.

KCC and Financial Support for Farmers

Kisan Credit Card helps improve farmers' access to formal agricultural credit and reduces dependence on informal sources of finance. By providing credit according to agricultural requirements and crop cycles, KCC can support smoother management of farming expenses.

Important Information

Credit limit, interest rate, repayment period, collateral requirements, documentation and other KCC conditions can vary according to the lending institution, type of agricultural activity, borrower profile and applicable rules. Farmers should check the applicable terms before applying for or using KCC credit.
