What is the Livelihood Assistance Programme?

The Livelihood Assistance Programme is designed to foster independent, durable household income generation through tailored financial assistance, skill capacity building, and essential productive asset distribution. Under this initiative, eligible low-income beneficiaries, self-help groups (SHGs), and traditional craftspeople receive subsidized toolkits, revolving capital, and credit-linked seed grants to establish community-level micro enterprises across agri-allied, manufacturing, and local service domains.

  • Must be an Indian citizen aged 18 years and above.
  • Applicant or household must belong to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) segment, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), or vulnerable socio-economic groups.
  • Priority is accorded to women heads of households, widows, SC/ST candidates, persons with disabilities (Divyangjan), and traditional rural artisans.
  • Applicant must not have availed an identical toolkit or capital grant from any competing government scheme within the preceding 3 years.

Step-by-Step Application Procedure

  1. Visit the official State Livelihood Mission portal or the designated district e-service counter.
  2. Submit an enrollment form directly or through your local Gram Panchayat, Village Organization (VO), or Block Development Office.
  3. Attach required verification proofs: Aadhaar card, BPL card/income certificate, community certificate, trade skill training certificate (if applicable), and bank passbook.
  4. The Gram Sabha, Area Level Federation, or District Livelihood Committee scrutinizes the application and conducts baseline household verification.
  5. Upon administrative sanction, approved productive toolkits are distributed, and seed grant amounts are disbursed directly to verified bank accounts via DBT.
