Fresh Nomination Schedule for Four Urban Local Bodies

Following Supreme Court directions concerning complaints about the nomination process, APSEC reopened nominations for a limited period in specified wards of four urban local bodies. These complaints included allegations that some prospective candidates were obstructed from filing nominations. Allegations should not be treated as proven facts unless established by the relevant official findings.

Scrutiny was scheduled for 25 October from 8:00 AM. The special withdrawal deadline for candidates filing fresh nominations was 3:00 PM that day, followed by publication of the final candidate list after 3:00 PM.

Why Was the Polling Date Changed?

The original municipal polling date was 28 October 2026, with counting on 30 October. APSEC subsequently revised polling to 1 November and counting to 3 November, following Supreme Court directions relating to complaints about the nomination process in certain wards. The revised programme also allowed fresh nominations in the specified wards listed above.

The revised schedule states that repolling, if required, will take place on 2 November. APSEC has indicated that the revised schedule for indirect elections, including the election of municipal mayors and chairpersons, will be announced separately.
