Delhi University (DU) Admission Eligibility Rules 2027

Delhi University (DU) is one of India’s most popular destinations for undergraduate admission. Students seeking admission to BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BMS and other undergraduate programmes for the 2027–28 academic session should understand the eligibility requirements, CUET UG subject combinations, Class 12 conditions and the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).

DU Admission 2027: Official Update

As of 31 October 2026, the University of Delhi has not released its official Undergraduate Bulletin of Information for the 2027–28 admission cycle. The rules explained below are based on the DU 2026–27 admission bulletin and are provided only as a planning reference. The university may change eligibility conditions, CUET subject combinations and admission procedures for 2027.

DU Admission 2027: Basic Eligibility Criteria

According to the latest available DU undergraduate admission bulletin for 2026–27, candidates were required to satisfy the following common eligibility conditions:

  • The candidate must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a single recognised board.
  • Class 12 qualifications from Indian boards or foreign qualifications recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) were covered under the 2026 rules.
  • Candidates had to appear in CUET UG in the subjects in which they had studied and passed or were appearing in Class 12, as applicable under the notified rules.
  • Admission depended on the programme-specific CUET subject combination and the applicable university eligibility conditions.
  • There was no single minimum Class 12 percentage applicable to every DU undergraduate programme. Individual programmes may prescribe additional conditions.

Candidates should wait for the DU UG Bulletin 2027–28 to confirm whether these conditions remain unchanged.

Is CUET UG Compulsory for DU Admission 2027?

For the 2026–27 admission cycle, DU undergraduate admissions were based on CUET UG scores, except for specified routes such as the School of Open Learning (SOL), Non-Collegiate Women Education Board (NCWEB) and Foreign National admissions. The university is expected to publish the applicable admission routes for 2027 in its official bulletin.

For regular undergraduate programmes, candidates should plan to appear in CUET UG and separately complete the DU CSAS admission process, subject to the 2027 notification.

CUET Subject Selection Rules for DU

One of the most important DU eligibility requirements is selecting the correct CUET subjects. Under the 2026–27 bulletin:

  • Candidates were required to take CUET papers in the subjects studied and passed in Class 12, according to the applicable programme requirements.
  • If a Class 12 subject was not available in the CUET subject list, candidates had to choose a similar or closely related language/domain subject.
  • For establishing similarity between a Class 12 subject and a CUET subject, the 2026 bulletin specified at least 50% syllabus similarity. The university retained the authority to decide the similarity.
  • Seat allocation and merit were based on the CUET subject combination prescribed for the selected programme.

DU Course-Wise CUET Eligibility: 2026 Reference

The following examples are taken from the 2026–27 admission framework. They are not confirmed subject combinations for 2027–28. Always check the new programme-specific eligibility document before selecting CUET papers.

Can Students from Any Stream Apply to Delhi University?

Students from Arts, Commerce and Science backgrounds may apply for programmes for which they satisfy the notified eligibility conditions. However, not every course is open to every subject combination.

  • Arts students: May consider eligible BA and other programmes, depending on the required CUET subjects.
  • Commerce students: May apply for B.Com and other programmes if they satisfy the relevant subject requirements.
  • Science students: May apply for eligible science, commerce or humanities programmes, subject to the programme-specific rules.
  • Mathematics requirement: Some programmes, including BMS, BBA (FIA) and B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science under the 2026 rules, required Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.

The universitys programme-specific eligibility, not merely the students Class 12 stream, determines whether an application is valid.

Is Class 12 Percentage Important for DU Admission?

Class 12 marks and CUET scores have different roles. In the 2026–27 admission cycle, DUs programme allocation was based on the prescribed CUET score combinations. According to the admission guidance published by Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Class 12 marks were not assigned regular admission weightage except where required for tie-breaking.

This should not be interpreted as a guarantee for 2027. Candidates must check the new DU bulletin for minimum qualifying marks, programme requirements and tie-breaking rules.

DU CSAS Admission Process 2027

After appearing in CUET UG, candidates seeking regular DU undergraduate admission should follow the universitys notified seat-allocation process. In the 2026–27 cycle, this was conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS UG).

  1. Read the official CUET UG 2027 Information Bulletin and complete the NTA application.
  2. Select CUET subjects according to the DU programme-specific eligibility rules.
  3. Appear in CUET UG and download the scorecard after the result.
  4. Visit the DU admission portal and register for CSAS UG when the 2027 registration window opens.
  5. Select and arrange preferred college and programme combinations.
  6. Check seat allocation and accept the allotted seat within the announced deadline.
  7. Complete document verification and pay the admission fee as instructed.
